HOW TO RESET IE 11
back to default settings in win 7
Data copied from http://windows.microsoft.com Reset Instructions and IE Settings.
*This may fix IE rendering and other issues.
By resetting Internet Explorer settings, you return Internet Explorer to the state it was in when it was first installed on your computer. This is useful for troubleshooting problems that might be caused by settings that were changed after installation. It does not delete your favorites, feeds, Web Slices, and a few other personalized settings.
Resetting Internet Explorer's settings is not reversible. After a reset, all previous settings are lost and cannot be recovered. Rather than resetting everything, you might want to reset specific settings or delete your webpage history.
You might want to back up your home page or home page tabs. To re-enable add-ons, see Internet Explorer add-ons.
Instructions to Reset Internet Explorer:
1. Close all Internet Explorer windows that are currently open.
2. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.
3. Click the Tools button Tools, and then click Internet options.
4. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
5. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
6. When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, tap or click Close, and then click OK. You'll need to restart your PC for these changes to take effect.

RESET FAILURE:
If any of the categories fail to reset, it is because Internet Explorer could not access a file or registry setting. This can be caused by insufficient security privileges, files or settings being used by another program, or low memory or high CPU usage. You can either continue to use Internet Explorer without restoring these settings, or restart your computer and try to reset again.
IE 11 SPECS
PC Mag: Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7
Internet Explorer has made some leaps in overall HTML5 support, too, as shown on its HTML5Test.com result. The test shows how many HTML5 elements and features a browser recognizes out of 500. It also notes "bonus" points for features that aren't required parts of HTML5, but are good to have, such as extra video codecs. Only installs on Windows 7 and 8.1.

Why IE10's displaying 1em bigger than Chrome?
I had set the IE zoom to 100%, but IE also has a "Text size" option that, for some reason, was set to "Largest". Setting it to "Medium" fixed the problem.
See CSS in Web Design for more information regarding fonts
Control Font Size in IE
1) One way is to use the View menu and click on Text Size. From here you can choose from Largest to Smallest depending on your preference. Keep in mind that this will not work for all Web pages as Web designers can limit your ability to change this setting using this tool.
- If all Web fonts are affected, it is safe to assume that the first option is what you should try using to get your fonts back to the size you like.
-You can also use this to increase the font size in most e-mail applications like Outlook, Windows Live Mail and so forth.
-This can be very useful when you need to modify a specific page or e-mail that may be too tiny or too large to read in its default presentation.
PERMANENTLY SET IE9 ZOOM LEVEL
via registry modification
To permanently set the zoom level You can permanently set the default zoom in Internet Explorer 9 to a custom level if you want to. To do this, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Zoom
3.In the details pane, double-click ZoomFactor.
4.Click Decimal. If you want to set the default zoom level to 125%, type 125000, and then click OK.
5.Close Registry Editor.
6.Log off of Windows and then log on again.
7.Open Internet Explorer. The zoom level should now be set to 125%.
Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
